About Mississippi Siddalls, Gray, Ruff
Please sign in to see more. John & Henry Siddall (probably brothers) arrived in Philadelphia, Pa on 17 Sep 1684 on the Vine of Liverpool, from Doly-Serne in Wales. "Emmigrants to Pennsylvania, 1641-1819" edited by Michael Tepper, Genealogical Publishing Co, 1975, pg 11. They were in a party of 10 servants to serve four years of Mary Becket of Walton, Lancashire. A check of the records of Walton does not indicate they lived there; they may have come from some other place nearby. They were Quakers, among whom, because of persecution and loss of goods, it was common to contract to serve four years indenture in payment for passage to America. Upon landing they went directly to Bucks Co. Henry went to work for Henry Baker near Newtown and soon took up land there. He had sons John and James. John appears to have served his time for William Penn at Pennsbury. After his four years he received his warrant for 50 acres, which he seems to have disposed of and purchased other land a little below Morrisville Pa in Fallsington township. John and Henry apparently came from near Walton in Lancashire. Henry Baker, who came to Pennsylvania from West Darby ( Derby), Lancashire, England was married as Henry Baker of Newtown, County of Lancaster under the auspices of Hardshaw West Monthly Meeting, Oct 6, 1667. Arrived in Philadelphia in the "Vine" of Liverpool, Sep 17, 1864 from-Colonial and Revolutionary Families of Pa.. John Siddall suffered a broke leg in 1703 and died of complication in 1704. His will is recorded in Book C, #168, page 212, Philadelphia Co Pa. Philadelphia, Co Pa Will abstracts: Sidell, John. Bucks Co. Yeoman. February 9, 1704. May 5, 1704. B.458.
